I could write a novel about 2012... maybe someday I will. It had it's highs and lows and unfortunately the lows were pretty low. I wish I could say that is behind us, but we are still dealing with what I can only describe as the hazards of having a blended family.
Today I choose to look ahead though, to this new year full of new opportunities and experiences. We have been adjusting to our "new normal" and it is time to focus on moving forward. And for the first January 1 in as long as I can remember, I don't have any grandiose plans for this year. I am a planner, I like to have a plan for pretty much everything. But if 2012 has taught me anything, it is that all your plans mean pretty much nothing when life throws you a curve ball. So for 2013 I resolve to have goals but not plans - with the exception of some vacations which I of course need to plan. :o)
Goals for 2013:
- Make time to really enjoy cooking meals. It is one of my favorite things to do, but not so much when I am rushing.
- Run the Shamrock Half Marathon on St. Patrick's Day.
- Plan trips and vacations to look forward to throughout the year.
- Keep working on organization (keep working on getting hubby on same page when it comes to organization!)
- Make more of an effort to focus on my own mind, soul and body - as well as my family's.
- Take the time to reflect and enjoy the moment.
- Be open to change and be mindful of the fact that to achieve something new in life, you can't keep doing the same things.
I hope 2013 brings peace and joy to all.
